What means of authentication can be used in this procedure?
Some procedures require you to provide electronic identification (in the same way that you would also have to provide ID if you were carrying out the procedure in person).
To identify the Headquarters of the Ministry of Justice allows different mechanisms for this procedure.
Digital certificates / Cl@ve mail Certificate
Electronic public key certificates, not revoked, supported by @firma, the Platform for validation and electronic signature of the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration will be accepted.
You can obtain a digital certificate from different service providers certification.An example of provider is the Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre, which provides certificates through options and for options that need to go in person to a Registration Office, has a wide network of partner offices. Electronic DNI / Cl@ve eDNI
You can identify yourself electronically using the electronic DNI.
To use an electronic DNI for authentication and signature purposes when processing certificate requests the citizen must have on their computer a browser, encrypted card reader and operating system which are supported and must also install an encryption module.

Cl@ve PIN
It is a system of identification and authentication, which allows access to services of Public Administration.
To use Cl@ve PIN need to register on the website of Cl@ve. To access the procedure you need to request a Cl @ ve PIN, you will receive on your mobile phone.
Cl@ve permanent
It is an authentication system designed for people who need frequent access to electronic services of the Administration. It is based on the use of a user code, your ID or NIE and a password that is set in the activation process and should only be known by the user.
To use Cl@ve permanent need to register on the website of Cl@ve.
Cl@ve EU citizens
Pan-European recognition of electronic identities, and in particular the acceptance of electronic ID cards and similar identifiers in eGovernment services of other European administrations.
What is Cl@ve?
Some procedures require you to provide electronic identification (in the same way that you would also have to provide ID if you were carrying out the procedure in person).
Cl@ve is managed by the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration system, designed to unify and simplify electronic access of citizens to public services. Its main objective is that citizens can relate to the administration by the most suitable mechanism according to the procedure you want to perform and in the simplest way possible, from the following: Electronic / certificate DNI-e, Cl@ve PIN, Cl@ve Permanent, Cl@ve for EU citizens. These mechanisms allow citizens to identify themselves when carrying out the process. For use, some mechanisms require registration in Cl@ve. More information on the official website of Cl@ve.
How to register in Cl@ve?
Only need register Cl@ve for Cl@ ve PIN and Cl@ve PERMANENT is not necessary if you use Digital certificates or DNIe.
There are different ways to register for Cl @ ve along with a wide network of offices where you can register in person or obtain an electronic certificate. We recommend locating the nearest office, which will avoid displacement and unnecessary delays. In any case, all information is available on the official page Key in How can I register.
What do I need to configure on my browser in order to carry out this procedure?
There are several things that you need to have correctly configured on your browser in order to carry out this procedure:
1. Have JavaScript activated
In order to sign and send the application, your browser must have Javascript activated.
The process for activating JavaScript may vary depending on the browser you use. Check the help option if you are unsure.
For example:
To activate Javascript using Mozilla Firefox
- On the menu bar click “Tools” and then “Options…” If the menu bar is deactivated, click on the “Firefox” tab and select “Options” and then “Options”
- Select the “Content” tab
- Click the “Activate JavaScript” box
- Click on “OK”
To activate Javascript using Internet Explorer
- On the menu bar, click “Tools” and then “Internet Options”
- Select the “Security” tab
- Click the “Custom level ” button
- Go to the “Automation” options
- Activate the “Enable” box in “Active scripting”
- Click on “OK”
To activate Javascript using Google Chrome
- On the menu bar, click on the spanner icon
- Select the “Configuration” option
- At the bottom, select “Show advanced options…”
- In the “Privacy” section, select “Content configuration”
- In the “JavaScript” section, activate the “Permit all sites to run JavaScript (recommended)” box
- Click on “OK”
2. Do not use TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2 secure transport protocol
Our procedures are not currently prepared to function with TLS 1.1/1.2 secure transport protocols.
If you are using the latest versions of Internet Explorer, you must deactivate these protocols. Follow these instructions to do so.
- On the menu bar, click “Tools” and then “Internet Options”
- Select the “Advanced Options” tab
- Go to the “Security” options
- Deactivate the “Use TLS 1.1” and “Use TLS 1.2” boxes
- Click on “OK”
3. Have a Virtual Java Machine installed
Step optimized for Java 7.x
In order to perform the request procedure, you must have the virtual Java machine installed on your browser if the service requires a digital signature.
To check the virtual Java machine you have installed and, if necessary, to upgrade it to a usable version, go to the following website:

On this page, click the “Verify Java version” button to find out which version you currently have and, where relevant, whether it is possible to upgrade this to the latest stable version compatible with this service. To be able to make requests requiring a digital signature, you could have to install a compatible version, available at:
We recommend you leave only one Java version and uninstall those that are not used in order to avoid possible incompatibility problems.
