• Full electronic procedure

This service is intended for health centres that provide this service to the parents of newborns. They can send the declaration of birth to the civil registry within 72 hours, as specified in "Law 20/2011, of 21 July, on the Civil Registry".

Users of health centres must be authorised to use this service. They must send the data of the processors to whom they authorize. The FAQs section explains how such permissions can be requested.

Only births occurring in hospitals and only to civil registries in which the new information system associated with "Law 20/2011" is implemented may be reported. The Civil Registry to which the application will be sent will be that of the municipality in which the health centre is located. The new information system is being implemented progressively in the Civil Registries in Spain since the entry into force, on 30 April 2021, of "Law 20/2011, of 21 July, on the Civil Registry".

To report the declaration of birth, the following must be provided:

  • Proof of birth (yellow paper).

  • Identity documents of the parents (for DNI or NIE only in case the parents oppose the consultation at the service of the General Directorate of the Police of "Identity Consultation")

  • Marriage certification: through the family book or the marriage certificate.

  • Birth certificate of the firstborn or page thereof in the family book, when applicable. Although an attempt will be made to obtain this automatically, whenever possible, from the application itself by consulting the data held by the Civil Registry.

  • The declaration of birth, which will be generated by the system itself, signed by the declarant or by both parents, depending on the specific case.
