Requests from individuals by the Institutes of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMLCF) of the Ministry of Justice (IMLCF Castilla-La Mancha, Castilla-León, Extremadura, Balearic Islands, Murcia, Ceuta and Melilla)

The Institutes of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMLCF) are technical bodies which, in addition to assisting the Administration of Justice in the field of their scientific and technical discipline, can intervene in the extrajudicial resolution of conflicts and issue reports and opinions at the request of individuals for events related to the circulation of motor vehicles.
Royal Decree 1148/2015 of 18 December 2015, which regulates the performance of this type of expert report, provides that the request may be submitted electronically. In the IMLCFs that are the Ministry's territory, the application may be processed through the Ministry's headquarters, taking into account that the IMLCF will be competent to process the application, knowing the place of residence of the injured victim or the place where the accident occurred and that the application must be accompanied by Annex I of Royal Decree 1148/2015 of 18 December, the reasoned offer that the insurance company has issued as well as all the medical documentation that is of interest to the case and that is to be asserted for the claim. Once the application has been accepted, a public price will be charged as consideration for carrying out the expert report, which will vary depending on the case, in accordance with the provisions of Order JUS/127/2016 of 8 February.
