Death registration application (access for funeral homes)
- Full electronic procedure
This service is intended for funeral agents who, on behalf of the family, are usually responsible for reporting the death to the Civil Registry.
To access as an employee of a funeral home, it must grant you power of attorney with your certificate of representative of the funeral home so that you can perform this procedure on behalf of your company with your certificate of individuals. You can consult how this power of attorney should be executed in Power of Attorney FAQs . Or you can access the procedure with the certificate of representative of the funeral home, the one associated with the CIF (tax ID), and in this case no prior power of attorney is necessary.
With this procedure, non-judicial deaths may be communicated only to the Civil Registries in which the new information system associated with "Law 20/2011, of 21 July, on the Civil Registry (DICIREG) is implemented. And only for deaths that have been certified by a doctor through an Electronic Medical Death Certificate (CMDe).
The DICIREG is being implemented progressively in the Civil Registries since the entry into force, on 30 April 2021, of Law 20/2011.
To make the communication of the death to the civil registry:
It is necessary to be in possession of the Proof of the issuance of the Electronic Medical Death Certificate. In this case, you will access a declaration already pre-filled with the data contained in the CMDe.
Or you can do this if you have the complete Electronic Medical Death Certificate by initiating a new declaration (this option is only for certain cases in which the aforementioned proof has not been issued). In this case, you must fill in the municipality of the death before accessing the declaration form, so that the system validates whether the corresponding civil registry has implemented the new DICIREG information system, and, therefore, whether or not the electronic communication of the death is possible.
